of 15th August, this balance, less the £114,318 owed by the War office to the Colony, would be placed to the credit of the War Department in the Colonial Military Lands Account and would be available for spending on the provision of extra accommodation should an increase of accommodation be required in the future, either for the present garrison or for any increase in its strength. The Council trust this understanding of the position may now be confirmed.
